The Best Sunflower Fields and Pumpkin Patches for Family Photos Near Markham, Toronto and Durham (2026 Guide)

Dear Mom Photography | Your family photographer for every occasion

Serving Markham, Unionville, Stouffville, Richmond Hill, Toronto, Durham Region and the GTA

There is a reason everyone's favourite family photos happen at farms in the fall. The light is golden, the colours are extraordinary, and there is something about a child running through a sunflower field or clutching a pumpkin almost as big as they are that makes even the most camera-shy mom forget she is being photographed at all.

These are the locations I love most for family sessions, and the ones I recommend when families ask where to go for that perfect fall moment. Some are right in your backyard. Some are worth the drive. All of them are the kind of place that makes you want to stay longer than you planned.

And if you have been thinking about booking a session at any of these locations, reach out. I photograph at farms and fields across the GTA and would love to plan something beautiful with your family this fall.

SUNFLOWER FIELDS

Sunflower Fields of Markham ⭐ Closest to home

10378 ON-48, Markham | sunflowerfieldsofmarkham.ca

15 minutes from downtown Markham, 30 minutes from Toronto

The one that belongs on your must-visit list if you are local. This third-generation century farm has been growing and nurturing their fields since 2021 and has become one of the most beloved summer photography destinations in the GTA. Twenty acres of sunflowers and over 400,000 blooms under open sky, with elevated platforms throughout that provide extraordinary views over the fields. Designated photo zones include props like vintage tractors and wooden swings for those perfect layered shots. Professional photography is permitted during regular business hours and no special permit or appointment is required. Just pay admission and arrive ready to shoot. Bring water and snacks as there are no refreshments on site. Wear appropriate footwear for walking through the field and arrive early on weekends as the parking lot fills quickly. Opens July through mid-August annually.

B'More Farm ⭐ Durham Region gem

Whitby, ON | bmorefarm.com

15 minutes from Markham, Oshawa, and Pickering

Over 100,000 sunflowers across six acres in the heart of Durham Region, making this the most convenient sunflower field for families in Whitby, Oshawa, and Pickering. What makes B'More special for photography is the variety of experiences built around the fields: dozens of different photo opportunities throughout the property, sunset yoga events, paint nights, and a sunflower market. The golden hour sessions here are extraordinary. Plan your visit for late afternoon when the light hits the fields from behind and everything glows.

Davis Family Farm ⭐ The bucket list farm

Caledon | torontosunflowerfields.ca

About 1 hour from Markham

If you are going to drive an hour for sunflowers, this is the one. Forty-five acres of bright and beautiful sunflowers in what they call the Field of Dreams, stretching further than you can see. Davis Family Farm is widely considered the best sunflower experience in Ontario and it shows. Family and commercial photography sessions are available by appointment only between 6pm and 9pm, booked directly through photography@davisfamilyfarm.ca. The farm also features exotic animal demonstrations on weekends, a piano in the middle of the field, sunflower yoga, and a luxury picnic experience available for booking. The Sunflower Festival runs July 25 to August 9, 2026. Buy tickets in advance, they sell out.

Dixie Orchards

Opens August 26, 2026 | GTA West

Sunflower field alongside a corn maze and porch market. Opens mid-August and runs for approximately three weeks. A beautiful combination location for late summer sessions where you can move between sunflowers and the market in one visit.

Edwards Farm

GTA | Opens approximately July 25, 2026

A working free-range poultry farm that opens its sunflower fields to guests during the two to three weeks of bloom. Gorgeous, genuine, and intimate compared to the larger festival farms. Wood-fired pizza, pygmy goats, Highland cows, and a farm store filled with local products. The kind of farm visit that feels like a real day out rather than a ticketed attraction.

A NOTE FROM YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER

Every single farm on this list is a place where I would love to photograph your family this fall.

The light at a pumpkin patch in late October between 4pm and 6pm is some of the most beautiful light I have ever worked in. Warm, directional, glowing through the fields in a way that makes everyone look extraordinary. Children at their natural best, distracted by pumpkins and hay bales and the kind of sensory experience that makes them forget a camera exists. Moms, for once, surrounded by beauty that makes getting in front of the lens feel a little more natural.

These are the sessions I love most. Real places, real families, real light.

Fall sessions are filling quickly. If you have been thinking about it, now is the time.

I photograph at farms and outdoor locations across Markham, Unionville, Stouffville, Richmond Hill, Toronto, and Durham Region. Full privacy options available. A deposit is required to reserve your date. Investment discussed during your free consultation.
